Inspired by this year's theme, "Down in the Jungle Room," Ozaki was drawn to a photograph featuring a monkey in Costa Rica. "Impressionism reminds me of music," she says, "many individual brushstrokes come together to form an image - just like many notes create a melody." The result is a playful, rhythmic piece that echoes her love of nature, storytelling, and layered meaning.

Painted with chalk and acrylic paint, the high key palette and color choices were kept soft and balanced so the piece feels light, timeless and versatile - something that can live comfortably in many different interiors. The design moves across the surface with rhythm and restraint and reflects Smith's belief in the shared beauty of art and music.
